The selection of PCD particle size is related to the cutting tool processing conditions. For example, when designing the cutting tool for finishing or ultra-finishing, the PCD with high strength, good toughness, good impact resistance and fine grain should be selected.Coarse-grained PCD tools can be used for general roughing.The particle size of PCD material has a significant influence on tool wear and damage performance.The research shows that the larger the size of PCD is, the stronger the wear resistance of the cutter is.
PCD particle size is submicron, 2 m, 5 m, 10 m, 25 m and 2~30 m, among which CDW010 with 10 m particle size is of general type, anti-crushing blade type and wear resistance are good. Generally, the bigger the particle size is, the more wear resistance the blade has, while CDW302 with mixed particle size of 2~30 m has better wear resistance.As shown in the figure, the comparison of anti-collapse blade and wear resistance of different PCD particle sizes, as well as the comparison of discharge characteristics and wear resistance.
